Mission beach

Mission 1: find someone talking sense!

On arrival we found out there was only 2 hostels. A rep from 1 was waiting at the bus stop. We started walking towards his hostel but he was being strange. Not sure what rooms he had at the hostel or whether they were booked. Not very helpful

Mission 2: find the hostel

We walked in the pitch black trying to find the other hostel but with no lights and a very unhelpful LP map it was near enough impossible!

Mission 3: make it to the hostel!

2 guys in a ute drove pass and asked us where we were going. We had our map and didn't know so they offered us a lift to Scotties. As we get out the guy tells us that they had only had a few so we caught them on a good night! Either way we were grateful for the lift!

Mission 4: find entertainment!

The town had 2 bars. 1 was at the hostel and the other across the road. Both expensive for food and drink and as they wasn't a shop open we had to indulge!

Mission 5: goto mission beach

Despite all the signs telling us otherwise we were about 4km from Mission beach. On the 3rd day we walked for about 1 hour along the beach. When we arrived there was nothing there!! We had to cross a creek to get there, which a guy later told us is pretty dangerous in high tide due to the crocs and jelly fish!

Mission 6: do a shop at Woolworth's

Woolworth's here is doing a roaring trade unlike the UK. We had to goto wooly's to do a shop as we have to start cooking food at the hostel. Boooo. No more eating out every night! Woolies had also sold out of Santa hats and tinsel! Nooooooo.

Mission 7: sort out what the hell we were going to do for Christmas and New Year!!

Luckily for us the girl at the travel agency took charge and planned it all for us, day by day! We'll be in Airlie Beach for Christmas, sailing round the Whitsundays the day after boxing day, and then Airlie beach again for new year! Sorted! We had to book as everything was pretty much sold out for Christmas and new year.

Any other spare time was filled with jumping into the pool and chatting to a couple we met from Coventry.

We also had our first Christmas party!! On our last night at Mission Beach we had a Christmas curry (very Christmasy I know), Secret Santa, and we even had crackers and a Christmas tree!! It was a really good night and we met some great people. Although we also met an absolutely crazy barmaid!! At one point she was chasing Kris trying to get him to sing. She really was a little (actually a lot) crazy, hence the photos of Kris hiding behind the Christmas tree scared for his life!!

Off to Magnetic Island next...
